BVA’s Gabriel Hicks recently attended the National Association for Business Economics’ inaugural Econ + Law Summit which brought together leading economists, regulators, and industry experts to explore developments at the intersection of economics and the law. Despite shifting to a virtual format due to severe weather, the Summit featured senior economists from major consulting firms and current and former leaders from agencies including the Department of Justice and the Federal Trade Commission.
The program addressed several themes directly impacting complex litigation and regulatory enforcement. Discussions explored the expanding role of artificial intelligence in economic analysis and expert testimony, alongside evolving trends in securities litigation and financial disputes. Panels also examined cryptocurrency fraud and digital asset litigation, highlighting areas of increasing regulatory scrutiny, including stablecoins and emerging digital asset structures. Regulators provided additional perspective on the future direction of federal antitrust enforcement and its implications for market participants.
BVA’s participation reflects the firm’s continued engagement with developments shaping complex litigation, regulatory enforcement, and expert economic analysis.
