BVA proudly participated in the National Business Development Association’s second annual golf tournament this spring. The 18-hole tournament, through the allocation of a portion of the proceeds, supports NBDA’s charity partner, Genesys Works. Genesys Works is a national organization providing pathways to career success for high school students in underserved communities through skills training, meaningful work experiences, and impactful relationships.

BVA Group's Laurie-Leigh White and Jesus Rios served on the Planning Committee for Houston's 8th annual American Society of Appraisers (ASA) Energy Valuation Conference, co-sponsored by BVA. The conference brought together industry thought leaders and covered topics spanning Permian Basin asset development activity, mineral and royalty valuation issues, observations on financial reporting valuations, the state of the LNG market, upstream capital raising environment and valuation implications, upstream valuations in U.S. onshore unconventional shale, considerations and approaches for midstream valuations, and M&A valuation trends for oilfield service companies.
BVA Group Supports 2018 ASC Silent Auction
BVA Group's Stephen Jaquess and Mandy Knies volunteered at the 2018 Attorneys Serving the Community (ASC) Silent Auction, which raised over $48,000. ASC’s mission is to bring together lawyers who collectively utilize their resources and talents to support local non-profit organizations whose programs benefit women, children, and families. Each year, ASC presents fundraising events that support its selected beneficiary. The selected beneficiary for 2018 is a cause already close to BVA's heart: Rainbow Days. Rainbow Days is a non-profit charitable organization that works with at-risk children. BVA has previously participated in a 5K benefitting Rainbow Days and volunteered during its back-to-school party where school-age children receive backpacks filled with new grade-appropriate school supplies and uniforms. BVA Group proudly supports Stay the Course, a non-profit organization focused on providing evidence-based therapies to individuals, couples, and families who have served in the military or first response services. Stay the Course introduces military and first-responder families to various resources in their communities which fill prevalent gaps in their needs. Tempa Sherrill, founder and CEO of Stay the Course, passionately describes the organization’s philosophy, “to promote healing and recovery for our country’s veterans from a multitude of issues resulting from invisible wounds.” Stay the Course aims to bring together veterans and first-responders by creating a community based on the ‘veterans helping veterans’ mentality.

Houston Office Fights Hunger with Houston Food Bank
This month, the Houston office visited the Houston Food Bank to prepare meals for children in the Greater Houston area. Volunteers produce the equivalent of one meal per minute while helping sort, process, and pack food. BVA Group Returns to North Texas Food Bank
BVA Group’s Dallas team members recently returned to North Texas Food Bank, a top-ranked nonprofit relief organization dedicated to combatting increasing food insecurity in North Texas. A member of Feeding America, North Texas Food Bank has become a favorite stop for BVA volunteers. During the latest visit, BVA packed 2,708 meals.

BVA Group is proud to support local nonprofit Vogel Alcove by participating in its 26th Annual Arts Performance Event featuring Kenny Loggins and Emerald City Band. Each year, Vogel Alcove’s premier event raises significant funds to support its mission; providing therapeutic early childhood and school-aged programs, family support and physical/mental health services tailored to the needs of homeless children. BVA Families Participate in the Heart & Sole 5K and Fun Run
BVA families are honored to have been a part of the ASC Heart & Sole 5K and Fun Run for the third consecutive year. The ASC-selected beneficiary for 2017 was Junior Players, a non-profit children's theater organization whose mission is to encourage intellectual growth, mental well-being, and the development of life skills in the youth of North Texas through mentoring, creative expression, and participation in dramatic and arts activities.

BVA Group Gives Back
This Thanksgiving season, Team BVA enjoyed build-your-own ice cream sundaes and a holiday movie as they packaged Thanksgiving baskets for the Children's Advocacy Center of Denton County. In total, BVA contributed 33 baskets to CACDC, which distributed the food to families in need affected by child abuse who were otherwise unable to enjoy a traditional Thanksgiving meal.

BVA Group’s Erica Bramer, alongside Judge Marvin Isgur, Judge Tony Davis, and attorney Rakhee Patel, presented at the State Bar of Texas’s “Forensic Finance: Better Bankruptcies through Better Numbers.” The panel engaged in a lively discussion on bankruptcy budgets, projected cash flows, and feasibility planning in Chapter 11 bankruptcy cases.
BVA Group Volunteers at North Texas Food Bank
The team at BVA Group recently volunteered at the North Texas Food Bank, a social benefit organization that distributes donated food through feeding programs and Partner Agencies. While volunteering, BVA helped organize and pack 150 boxes of food, which equals 3,960 meals for families in North Texas.

Team members from BVA Group recently attended the 30th annual ASC Luncheon. The keynote speaker was one of America’s most inspiring executives, Steve Pemberton, who serves as Vice President, Diversity and Inclusion and Global Chief Diversity Officer for Walgreens Boots Alliance. Each year, ASC presents fundraising events that support its selected beneficiary. ASC has raised almost $4 million for Dallas area non-profits since its creation in 1987. As a longtime contributor, BVA is always proud to participate in ASC events and fundraising.

Doug Rudley to Retire from BVA Group
Jeff Balcombe, President and CEO of BVA, recently announced that Doug Rudley is retiring from the firm as of December 31, after a career in the transaction advisory business spanning over thirty years, including the last twelve years with BVA. In recent years Doug has spent much of his time consulting and providing expert testimony in major securities litigation.
United Way Nine for 90 - Summer Meals Program
BVA was a proud participant in the United Way’s Summer Meals Program on June 18, 2014. In celebration of their 90th anniversary, United Way is hosting nine large scale volunteer events, called “Nine for 90”, that serve to unite the community against the issues we face today. June was all about combatting hunger and homelessness.

The Dallas Business Journal has selected BVA Group's Erica Bramer as one of their "40 under 40 Business Professionals" for 2013. Each year, The Dallas Business Journal seeks forty individuals, under the age of 40, who are making a difference in business and their community. Erica Bramer was selected out of over 300 nominees for this honor.

Verizon, US Bank Wrap First Phase of Idearc Spinoff Trial
Verizon Communications Inc. on Friday rested its defense in Texas federal court against U.S. Bank NA’s claims the telecom giant grossly inflated the value of Idearc Inc., which later filed for bankruptcy, in a $9.9 billion spinoff deal, but won’t get a ruling in the case before December.
